Road Trip!

Today turned into one of those wonderfully spontaneous moments Ive spend my whole life waiting for -
Our first mother daughter road trip!
We both slept in until about 8:00, then anje woke me up asking if she could call her friend to play. Knowing the friend's mother liked to sleep in on weekends too, I told Anj to go get some breakfast, get dressed and wait until 10am. She said Ok and did as I asked - my little angel even brushed and styled her own hair. (I have to say, she's getting quite good at it) Then at 10:05 she called WyLynn. But unfortunately, WyLynn was not as ambitious as Anj. So her friend said she would call her back when she was ready. While we waited, we folded the laundry, took out the trash and piled the dishes in the sink. Then I thought"what are we doing"on this beautiful summer Saturday and I told anje to go call her friend and tell her never mind and we were off to Las Vegas!!!
Anje was a bit confused and excited at the same time - no planning, no packing, nobody else - just a spur of the moment real live road trip? (Well, there was a little care taken, we did stop across the street to have the oil changed and replaced a gasket - I am my mother's child, and the thought of a broken car in Vegas did cross my mind) BUT then we were off!!
Now I was expecting this trip to be like all the others, but when she rolled down the window, put her elbow on the window sill and turned to me and said "mom, we need music but since the radio doesn't work, we'll have to talk" - I knew I was different.
We talked, we laughed, we shopped and had a fabulous time. We went to the LakeShore Center and the Halloween Store and Learning is Fun Store. We ate at Sizzler and even got a foot massage. It was a great day, she even told me she wouldn't choose any other place to be. (Quiver, quiver, joy tear).
We did have one little scare - When we stopped at Mesquite to eat, we were sitting at the Oasis in a booth near a window and this guy stopped and started knocking and waving at Anje. She waved back and then looked at me in horror - I told her to not look and just ignore him, so she did but the rest of the night she clung to me - I think it freaked her out a little. she even made me check under the beds when we got home. But she went straight to bed, with no fuss just a kiss and a "thanks, mom". My little girl's growing up -(sigh)
Love and kisses to you all
